Maharashtra Speaker Rahul Narwekar Limits Vidhan Bhavan Visits

Maharashtra Speaker Rahul Narwekar announced in the Assembly that visitors will be allowed in the Vidhan Bhavan only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, citing security reasons. This decision aims to avoid crowds and ensure the security of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, other ministers, and MLAs. Visitors will be allowed in limited fixed numbers.

Ajit Pawar Presents State Budget

On Friday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar presented the state budget during the Monsoon Session. He announced the ‘Mukhyanantri Majhi Ladki Bahin’ scheme, which will provide Rs 1500 per month to women aged 21-60, starting from July 2024. This scheme is inspired by Madhya Pradesh’s Ladli Behna Yojana.

Pawar also announced a Rs 5000 per hectare bonus for cotton and soybean farmers and a Rs 5 per litre bonus for milk-producing farmers. Additionally, the compensation for deaths due to animal attacks has been increased from Rs 20 lakhs to Rs 25 lakhs.

Election Results

In the recent elections, the BJP won nine seats in Maharashtra, down from 23 in 2019. The Congress secured 13 seats, while the Shiv Sena and NCP won seven and one seats, respectively. The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackrey) got nine seats, and the NCP – Sharadchandra Pawar won eight seats.
