The swearing-in ceremony for seven newly appointed Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) in Maharashtra will take place at Vidhan Bhavan at noon on Tuesday. Neelam Gorhe, the Deputy Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, will administer the oath. This comes as the High Court has reserved its order on a petition concerning the vacant posts of 12 MLCs, filed by Shiv Sena UBT Kolhapur chief Sunil Modi.

BJP Core Group Meeting

On Monday, the first phase of the Maharashtra BJP core group meeting concluded, focusing on the seats of the sitting MLAs. The meeting, which lasted about three hours, was held at the BJP headquarters under the leadership of National President Jagat Prakash Nadda. Key figures such as Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and State President Chandrashekhar Bawankule were present, along with central leaders like Home Minister Amit Shah.

Upcoming Elections

The 288-seat Maharashtra Assembly is set to go to polls later this year, with the Election Commission of India expected to announce the dates on Tuesday. The election will feature a contest between the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition and the Maha Yuti Alliance.
