Maharashtra Minister Deepak Kesarkar Addresses Missing CCTV Footage in Badlapur School Incident
Maharashtra Minister and Shiv Sena leader Deepak Kesarkar has announced that CCTV footage from the last 15 days is missing from a school in Badlapur where two minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted.
Missing CCTV Footage
Kesarkar stated, “The CCTV footage of the last 15 days is missing from the school. It is important to investigate why the footage has gone missing and what the motive behind it is.”
Proposed Safety Measures
He suggested that panic buttons, similar to CCTVs, could be installed in schools and hostels to enhance safety. “A panic button can also be installed in the hostels. It is an advanced technology,” Kesarkar said during a press conference in Mumbai.
Investigation and Accountability
An investigation team led by the deputy director of the Mumbai region is probing the Badlapur incident. Various departments are involved in the investigation, and the police will decide under which sections the cases will be filed. Negligent individuals have been identified as co-accused and will face consequences.

A report prepared by the Women and Child Welfare Department and the Education Ministry regarding the sexual abuse case in Badlapur was handed over to Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar on Monday.
Legal Action
Earlier, a special investigation team (SIT) registered an FIR against the school authorities for not complying with Section 19 of the POCSO Act, which mandates reporting any sexual assault against minors to the police.
