Maharashtra Cabinet Boosts Teachers’ Salaries
The Maharashtra Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has decided to increase the salaries of teachers in Madrasas. D.Ed. teachers will now earn Rs 16,000 per month, up from Rs 6,000, while B.Ed. teachers will receive Rs 18,000 per month, an increase from Rs 8,000. Additionally, the share capital of the Maulana Azad Minority Economic Development Corporation will rise to Rs 1,000 crores from Rs 700 crores.
Tribute to Ratan Tata
The Cabinet also paid tribute to Ratan Tata, a veteran industrialist who passed away at the age of 86. A resolution was passed to urge the Centre to award him the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor. Ratan Tata’s final rites were conducted with full state honors, attended by his stepmother Simone Tata, close aide Shantanu Naidu, and his adopted stray dog, Goa.
Ratan Tata’s Legacy
Born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, Ratan Tata was a prominent figure in the Tata Group, serving as Chairman of Tata Sons from 1991 to 2012. He was also the Chairman of the Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust, major philanthropic organizations in India. In 2008, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian award.
