Maharashtra Congress Suspends Rebel Candidates
The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has taken strict action by suspending seven more rebel candidates for anti-party activities ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. This brings the total number of suspended candidates to 28 across 22 constituencies.
Newly Suspended Leaders
The latest suspensions include Shamkant Saner, Rajendra Thakur, Aba Bagul, Manish Anand, Suresh Kumar Jethliya, Kalyan Borade, and Chandrapaul Chauksey.
Previously Suspended Leaders
Earlier, 21 other rebels were suspended, including Anandrao Gedam, Shilu Chimurkar, Sonal Kove, Bharat Yereme, and others.
Reason for Suspension
These candidates are contesting against the official nominees of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala stated that rebels would face a six-year suspension.
Upcoming Elections
The Maharashtra assembly elections are set for November 20, with vote counting on November 23. The opposition MVA coalition aims to regain power, challenging the Mahayuti alliance.

In 2019, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42.
