Mumbai, Maharashtra – Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole launched a strong criticism against Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s government due to waterlogging in Mumbai after heavy rains. Patole accused the government of corruption and failing the people of Mumbai.

Earlier, CM Eknath Shinde chaired a high-level meeting to review the situation and directed all emergency agencies to be on high alert. He posted on social media that life in Mumbai has been disrupted, with traffic jams and affected railway services. He urged citizens to go out only if necessary and asked for cooperation from the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Police Administration, and Emergency Services.

The Chief Minister’s Office stated that CM Shinde is chairing a high-level meeting at the Disaster Control Room to review the flood situation. Mumbai Guardian Minister MP Lodha, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Anil Patil, and others were present.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Mumbai, predicting very heavy rain in the next 24 hours. Mumbai recorded heavy rainfall, leading to traffic jams and waterlogging. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that Colaba recorded 83.8 mm of rainfall and Santacruz recorded 267.9 mm in the last 24 hours. The city received a total of 2547 mm of rainfall, which is 27% of the average annual rain during the same period.

Waterlogging was reported in several areas, including Worli, Kurla East, King’s Circle, Dadar, and Vidyavihar Railway Station. Powai Lake started overflowing around 4:45 a.m. due to the heavy rains.
