Maharashtra Congress Chief Nana Patole Hopes for Final Seat-Sharing Agreement with Shiv Sena

Maharashtra Congress and Shiv Sena Discuss Seat-Sharing

In Mumbai, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole expressed optimism about finalizing a seat-sharing arrangement with Shiv Sena (UBT) for the upcoming assembly elections. Patole mentioned that Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat provided detailed insights from his meeting with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. Patole stated, “A way can be found is what we feel. We are going for the seat-sharing meeting. We hope that this is the final meeting for seat sharing.”

Thorat assured that the list for the assembly polls would be released soon, emphasizing the urgency due to the nomination process already underway for the elections scheduled on November 20. Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar added that they aim to announce the seat-sharing formula by the evening, stating, “An agreement has been made on a lot of things. Today, around 7:00 pm we will try to inform the media about the MVA final seat-sharing information or formula that is chalked out…Everything will be clear soon.”

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which includes Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress, is working to resolve differences over some assembly seats. Earlier, Thorat met with NCP leader Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray to discuss the matter. Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition MVA are preparing for the elections but have yet to finalize their seat-sharing plans. The Maharashtra assembly has 288 seats, and the election results will be announced on November 23.
