Nashik (Maharashtra) [India], September 28: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, inaugurated the statues of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule on Saturday.

Chief Minister Shinde praised the contributions of Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule, urging people to follow their ideals. He said, “We must follow the ideals of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule. They faced a lot of problems but they did not leave their work. We are lucky that such people were born in our Maharashtra.”

He further stated that the current state government in Maharashtra focuses not only on infrastructure but also on achieving social unity through inclusive development. “Our government is the people’s government. We do not only focus on infrastructure but also social unity because the progress of society happens only through inclusive development,” he said.

CM Shinde also mentioned that the Maharashtra government has taken initiatives inspired by social activist Savitribai Phule to help women become self-reliant and attain self-respect. “The government bears the expenses so that daughters become doctors and engineers. We have brought ‘Ladli Behan Yojana’ so that women become self-reliant and get self-respect. We have got this inspiration from Savitribai Phule,” he added.

Earlier in the day, CM Shinde visited Viviana Mall in Thane to watch the Marathi film ‘Dharmaveer 2’ along with the actors of the movie. The film is based on the life of the late Shiv Sena leader Dharamveer Anand Dighe, who was CM Shinde’s political mentor. In July, actor and producer Bobby Deol unveiled the poster of ‘Dharmaveer 2’ alongside CM Shinde and the film’s cast and crew in Mumbai.
