Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Vows to Fight Drug Menace in Pune and Beyond

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced strict measures against those involved in drug supply, particularly near schools, colleges, and pubs. Speaking to reporters, Shinde emphasized that drug suppliers would be uprooted from the entire state.

Shinde’s remarks follow public outrage in Pune over a viral video showing minors consuming drugs in a bar’s washroom. In response, Shinde has instructed municipal and police commissioners to dismantle illegal constructions related to drugs in cities like Pune, Thane, and Mira-Bhainder.

On June 26, Shinde directed officials to take strict action against illegal pubs and bars to make Thane and Mira-Bhainder drug-free. Similar actions were ordered in Pune, where Shinde instructed the police commissioner to use bulldozers to remove unauthorized structures linked to drugs.

Shinde reiterated his commitment to making Pune a drug-free city by taking renewed action against drug peddlers and illegal establishments.
