Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Removes Rajesh Shah from Shiv Sena Post After Son’s Arrest in Hit-and-Run Case
In Mumbai, Maharashtra, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, has removed Rajesh Shah from his position as Deputy Leader of Shiv Sena. This decision came after Rajesh Shah’s son, Mihir Shah, was arrested by the Mumbai Police for a hit-and-run incident.
The incident, which occurred on July 7, resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman named Kaveri Nakhwa and injured her husband. Mihir Shah had been absconding but was arrested on Tuesday from Virar after a thorough search by fourteen police teams.
Opposition parties, including NCP spokesperson Clyde Crasto, have demanded strict action against Mihir Shah, emphasizing that he should not receive any leniency due to his father’s political connections. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MP Sanjay Raut also expressed concerns about efforts to protect the accused and called for a thorough investigation into Rajesh Shah’s background and connections.
Additionally, a Mumbai court has extended the police custody of Rajesh Shah’s driver, Rajrishi Singh Bidawat, who was with Mihir Shah during the incident, until July 11.
