Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 25: A young farmer named Shivratan Munde met Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and shared his struggles since his father’s suicide. The CM instructed to provide Rs five lakh from the CM’s relief fund to help Shivratan and his family.

Meanwhile, the government has announced a comprehensive strategy to boost the agriculture sector. This includes:

  • Reviewing research infrastructure
  • Developing climate-resilient crop varieties
  • Promoting natural farming among one crore farmers
  • Establishing bio-input resource centres

The government aims to achieve self-sufficiency in pulses and oilseeds, develop vegetable production clusters, implement Digital Public Infrastructure in agriculture, and support shrimp farming through NABARD. These initiatives are designed to modernize agriculture and ensure sustainable growth.

Under the natural farming initiative, the government will train one crore farmers in chemical-free and livestock-based farming. This will enhance productivity, sustainability, and access to premium markets for organic produce. The National Food Security Mission-Oilseeds (NFSM-OS) aims to increase the production of edible oils and reduce import dependency. The government has also increased Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for the 2024-25 Kharif season to boost crop production.

Additionally, the government plans to introduce 109 new high-yielding and climate-resilient crop varieties across 32 field and horticulture crops, revolutionizing agricultural practices nationwide.
