Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Defends Ladki Bahin Yojana Amid Criticism
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has strongly defended the Ladki Bahin Yojana against opposition criticism. Speaking at a public gathering in Kurla, Shinde stated that if launching initiatives like this is considered a crime, he is willing to commit such ‘crimes’ repeatedly. He criticized the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi for attempting to halt the scheme through legal means, emphasizing his commitment to women’s empowerment.
Shinde highlighted the successful disbursement of the November instalment of the Ladki Bahin Yojana, with funds directly deposited into beneficiaries’ accounts. He promised to advance the December funds and increase the current Rs 1500 allocation to further support women in Maharashtra.
During rallies supporting Mahayuti candidates Mangesh Kudalkar and Murji Patel, Shinde criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for unfulfilled promises in other states. He contrasted this with his administration’s achievements, including infrastructure improvements and healthcare advancements.
Shinde also announced increased insurance coverage under the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, youth employment support through Ladka Bhau Yojana, and expanded access to free higher education for girls. Additional schemes for senior citizens and travel benefits for women were also highlighted.
Expressing confidence in his administration’s capabilities, Shinde urged support for Mahayuti candidates in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 20, with results on November 23.
