Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Criticizes Arvind Sawant’s Remark on Shaina NC
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has criticized Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant for his “imported maal” comment about Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC. Shinde stated that the women of Maharashtra will respond to such remarks in the upcoming elections. He emphasized that if Balasaheb Thackeray were present, he would not have tolerated such behavior.
The controversy began when Sawant allegedly referred to Shaina as “imported maal,” suggesting that she, having switched parties, would not succeed. A case has been filed against Sawant at Nagpada Police Station following a complaint by Shaina NC.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar condemned Sawant’s remarks, stating that derogatory comments against women are unacceptable in Maharashtra. He highlighted the state’s commitment to honoring and empowering women.
Shaina NC, after filing a complaint, expressed her determination to let the law take its course. She criticized the Maha Vikas Aghadi for disrespecting women and assured that the women of Maharashtra would respond appropriately.
In response to the backlash, Arvind Sawant claimed he did not mention Shaina’s name and accused his opponents of defaming him. He maintained his respect for women and described Shaina as a friend.
The Maharashtra Assembly election is scheduled for November 20, with results expected on November 23.
