Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Announces Toll Exemption for Light Vehicles Entering Mumbai
Mumbai, Maharashtra: In a significant move, the Maharashtra government has announced a full toll exemption for light motor vehicles at all five toll booths entering Mumbai. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde described this decision as a “historic masterstroke” that will save time, reduce pollution, and ease traffic congestion.

Maharashtra minister Dadaji Dagadu Bhuse explained that the exemption will take effect after midnight. Previously, tolls at Dahisar, Anand Nagar, Vaishali, Airoli, and Mulund charged Rs. 45 to Rs. 75, affecting around 2.80 lakh light vehicles daily. This change is expected to save time spent in queues.
