Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde arrived in New Delhi to attend the 9th NITI Aayog’s Governing Council meeting. The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focused on ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and the development of Maharashtra.

Shinde highlighted that the Union Budget included many schemes for farmers, women, youth, senior citizens, and people of all classes. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the central and state governments.

Prime Minister Modi chaired the meeting at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. However, Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Punjab, and Delhi boycotted the meeting, alleging bias in the Union Budget. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended, stressing the need for a common platform to raise their voices.

The theme of this year’s meeting was ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, aiming to make India a developed nation by 2047. The meeting discussed the approach paper for the vision document and the role of states in achieving this goal. It also covered recommendations from the 3rd National Conference of Chief Secretaries, including topics like cyber security, aspirational districts, and AI in governance.

The Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors, Union Ministers, and members of NITI Aayog participated in the meeting to create a roadmap for a developed India by 2047.
