The Congress party has announced its first list of 48 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Key figures include Nana Patole from Sakoli, Praful Vinodrao Gudadhe from Nagpur South West, and Balasaheb Thorat from Sangamner. Other notable candidates are Kunal Rohidas Patil from Dhule rural and Rajesh Panditrao Ekade from Malkapur.

Sunil Deshmukh will contest from Amaravati, and Adv. Yashomati Chandrakant Thakur from Teosa. Vijay Wadettiwar, the Leader of Opposition, will run from Brahmapuri, while former CM Prithviraj Chavan will contest from Karad South. The Deshmukh brothers, Dhiraj and Amit, are set to contest from Latur Rural and Latur City, respectively.

Maha Vikas Aghadi Alliance Seat Sharing

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar), has agreed on a seat-sharing arrangement. Each party will contest 85 seats out of the 255 constituencies. The remaining 23 seats will be allocated based on party lists.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut confirmed the agreement and emphasized the importance of unity among the MVA partners. He mentioned that corrections to a previously released list would be made, and discussions on seat allocation for smaller parties would continue.

Shiv Sena (UBT) has released its first list of 65 candidates, including Aaditya Thackeray, who will contest from the Worli assembly constituency, and Sunil Raut.

Election Timeline

The nomination process for the 288 assembly seats has begun. Polling is scheduled for November 20, with results to be announced on November 23. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress won 44 seats.
