Maharashtra and SAI Join Forces to Build New Sports Complex in Mumbai

The Government of Maharashtra and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to construct a new sports complex in North Mumbai. This agreement was finalized in the presence of the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, who shared the news on his official social media account.

According to Piyush Goyal, the project had been delayed for over two decades but has now gained momentum thanks to the efforts of the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya. The new sports complex aims to provide athletes with the facilities needed to pursue their Olympic dreams.

Goyal expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration between the Maharashtra government, led by Eknath Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar, and the central government under Prime Minister Modi. He criticized previous Congress governments for their lack of commitment to sports, which had resulted in the loss of valuable land.

India recently concluded its campaign at the Paris Olympics, securing six medals, including five bronze and one silver.
