Prayagraj Prepares for the Grand Event
The Maha Kumbh Mela is scheduled to occur in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from January 14 to February 26, 2025. Mahant Hari Giri, the head of Juna Akhara, emphasized that only Sanatan religious devotees will be allowed to participate. He expressed concerns about non-Sanatan individuals disrupting the event and highlighted the need for strict security measures, including Aadhar card checks for attendees.

Giri urged the Uttar Pradesh government to ban and monitor meat and liquor within a 10-kilometer radius of the event to maintain its sanctity. He also mentioned the possibility of renaming the event, as ‘Mahakumbh’ is a Persian term derived from Sanskrit.

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to provide subsidies to improve facilities for tourists and devotees. The main bathing festivals, known as ‘Shahi Snan,’ will occur on January 14, January 29, and February 3.
