In Patna, Bihar, the Mahagathbandhan, also known as the Grand Alliance, revealed its candidates for the upcoming by-elections in four assembly seats. The announcement was made on October 20 during a press conference at the RJD state office. The candidates are Roshan Kumar Majhi for Imamganj, Vishwanath Kumar Singh for Belaganj, Ajit Kumar Singh for Ramgarh, and Raju Yadav for Tarari.

The by-elections are part of a larger electoral process taking place across 15 states, including Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. The press conference was attended by key political figures such as RJD State President Jagdanand Singh, Congress State President Dr. Akhilesh Singh, and leaders from the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP).

Earlier, on October 15, the Election Commission announced bypolls for 48 assembly constituencies, including nine seats in Uttar Pradesh and the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. The polling for 47 assembly seats and the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat is scheduled for November 13, while one assembly constituency in Uttarakhand and the Nanded constituency in Maharashtra will vote on November 20. The largest number of bypolls will occur in Uttar Pradesh, with seats like Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, Katehari, Majhawan, and Sishamau going to the polls.

The assembly elections in Bihar are anticipated to take place in October-November 2025.
