French playmaker Madih Talal has signed a two-year deal with East Bengal FC, largely influenced by head coach Carles Cuadrat. Talal, who emerged as a standout player in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 season with Punjab FC, led the league with the highest number of assists (10).

In his debut season in India, the 26-year-old showcased his exceptional skills, including initiating attacks, precise footwork, visionary passing, and dynamic movement. His addition is expected to enhance East Bengal FC’s attacking capabilities.

Talal revealed, “The biggest reason (behind joining East Bengal FC) is Carles Cuadrat. The way he discussed it made me sign for the Red and Gold Brigade.” He also praised the city of Kolkata and its supporters, adding, “East Bengal FC is one of the traditional clubs in the country, and they will play in the AFC next season. Then how can I reject their offer?”

Talal highlighted how Cuadrat played a pivotal role in persuading him to join, saying, “The coach told me many things about the history of the club, its supporters, and the city of Kolkata. He also spoke about the future plans of the club and how he wanted to utilize me on his team.”

In his first professional stint in India, Talal was instrumental in Punjab FC’s impressive debut ISL season, where they finished eighth, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot.
