Madhya Pradesh’s Big Budget for Women and Children
Finance Minister Jagdish Devda Announces Rs 26,560 Crore
On Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Jagdish Devda, presented the state budget for the financial year 2024-25. A significant allocation of Rs 26,560 crore has been proposed for the Department of Women and Child Development.
Of this, Rs 18,984 crore is dedicated to the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana. The budget for Women and Child Development is 81% higher than the previous fiscal year, 2023-24.
Minister Devda emphasized the government’s commitment to providing a dignified life for women in the state. He highlighted the success of schemes like Ladli Laxmi Yojana and Ladli Behna Yojana in empowering women financially and socially.
The budget aims to make women financially strong, self-reliant, and influential in family decisions. As a result, child marriage rates are decreasing, and the sex ratio at birth has improved from 927 to 956.
