In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held an emergency meeting to address the alarming rise in elephant deaths at Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (BTR) in Umaria district. According to P K Verma, Deputy Director of BTR, four elephants from a herd of 13 were found dead during routine patrolling. Four others were discovered ill. Forest officials identified the herd, noting that two elephants were healthy, while treatment began for the others.
Tragically, three more elephants died on Tuesday night, and another on Wednesday, bringing the total deaths to eight. The Department of Forest, Madhya Pradesh, confirmed this update on social media, stating that one elephant is still receiving treatment, two have fully recovered, and two remain healthy.
