Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the preparations for the Simhastha 2028 festival, a major Hindu religious event held every 12 years in Ujjain. The meeting took place at Mantralaya.

Key Points Discussed

CM Yadav highlighted that Simhastha is significant not only for Ujjain but also for the Indore division. He noted that many devotees visit Omkareshwar and Maheshwar, and facilities should be developed accordingly.

For elderly pilgrims, Yadav suggested that parking spaces closer to the ghat would be more convenient. He proposed using the campus grounds of educational and other institutions for parking and called for a survey to be conducted immediately.

Infrastructure Developments

Yadav directed the Public Works Department to expedite the construction of a four-lane road from KD Gate to Veer Durgadas Chhatri to Gonsa Marg in Ujjain. This road will provide direct access to Gopal Mandir and the main urban areas towards Jaora, Badnagar, and Kaal Bhairav.

To promote spiritual tourism, a helipad is being constructed at Sadaval in Ujjain. This will facilitate easier access for passengers under the Tirtha Darshan Yojana.

Additional Directives

Yadav also instructed the PWD to consider future public facilities and to develop additional rail facilities along with the Ujjain Indore Metro. He emphasized the timely completion of previously approved departmental works and the renovation and beautification of ghats.
