Madhya Pradesh Approves Insurance for Anganwadi Workers
The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has approved an amount of Rs 12.10 crores to provide insurance coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana for Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers, and Sahayikas.
Details of the Insurance Schemes
Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY): This scheme covers a life risk of Rs 2 lakh in case of death due to any reason. The annual premium is Rs 436 per beneficiary for those aged 18 to 50 years.
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY): This scheme provides Rs 2 lakh in case of accidental death and permanent total disability, and Rs 1 lakh for partial but permanent disability. The annual premium is Rs 20 per beneficiary for those aged 18 to 59 years.
Funding and Implementation
The total approved amount of Rs 12.10 crores will be spent over two financial years, with Rs 3.63 crore as the central share and Rs 2.42 crore as the state share each year. The insurance premiums will be deducted from the bank accounts of the beneficiaries with their consent, and the government will reimburse the amount in a 60:40 ratio (Government of India 60% and State Government 40%).

State Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya stated that a total of 57,324 women in the state will benefit from these insurance schemes.
