Lt Governor Manoj Sinha Releases Book on Dard Tribe and Condemns Doda Attack

Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha released the second edition of the North Kashmir Gazette and Cultural Encyclopaedia of the Dard Tribe at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar. The book, authored by Dr. Suheel Rasool Mir, was praised by Sinha for its detailed account of the Dard tribe’s culture and traditions.

Speaking at the event, L-G Sinha said, “People from across the country and all over the world will get an opportunity to learn about the rituals of the Dard tribe, consequently expanding their knowledge about the tribe. I want to thank Dr Suheel Rasool Mir and his team for making this contribution. I am also thankful to the Indian Army and the editor association.”

He added, “The second edition will earn a greater level of love from people compared to the first one. It will help in fulfilling the objective with which the initiative was started.”

Earlier, L-G Sinha expressed his condolences to the families of soldiers who lost their lives in the Doda encounter. He called for unity in the fight against terrorism, stating, “I am deeply anguished to learn about the cowardly attack on our Army soldiers and JKP personnel in Doda district. Tributes to brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice protecting our nation. My deepest condolences to members of the bereaved families.”

The Indian Army used a helicopter to carry out a search operation in the forests of Doda as the hunt for terrorists continues. A joint operation was launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police following an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Dessa area of the district. This follows recent terror attacks in the Jammu region, including an attack on an army convoy in Kathua and encounters in Doda and Udhampur.
