Change of Leadership in Jammu and Kashmir

Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava has taken over as the new leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Chinar Corps, succeeding Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai. Lt Gen Ghai led the corps for 16 months, a period marked by significant achievements in security and peace in the region.

Achievements Under Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai

During Lt Gen Ghai’s tenure, the Chinar Corps successfully conducted two incident-free Amarnath Yatras, the Parliamentary Elections in May 2024, and the Assembly Elections in September to October 2024. The corps also made significant progress in counter-infiltration and counter-terrorism operations, weakening the terror network in the area.

Lt Gen Ghai is now moving to Army Headquarters to serve as the Director General of Military Operations. He expressed his best wishes to the people of Kashmir for a bright future.

Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava’s Vision

Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, a seasoned soldier with 34 years of military experience, has taken command of the Chinar Corps. He has extensive experience in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations, having served in both Jammu and Kashmir and the North East. He previously commanded the Counter Insurgency Force (Victor) in South Kashmir.

Upon assuming command, Lt Gen Srivastava paid tribute at the Chinar War Memorial and extended warm greetings to the people of Kashmir. He emphasized his commitment to working with the Civil Administration and the community to build a peaceful and prosperous future. He encouraged society to collaborate with security agencies to overcome terrorism challenges.
