On September 1, Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, GOC-in-C, Northern Command, inaugurated the ‘Gul-A-Seum’ at Gulmarg. The ‘Gulmarg Army Museum’ aims to highlight the rich history and heritage of Kashmir and the Indian Army’s role in the region’s security and development. The museum was conceptualized and constructed by the Dagger Division and its Himalayan Brigade.

The museum showcases the valour, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of the Indian Armed Forces. It is dedicated to the Army’s pivotal role in various wartime efforts, national development, and the cultural tapestry of Jammu & Kashmir. Col VN Thapar (Rtd) emphasized that the museum is a monument to those who laid down their lives in different wars, including those with Pakistan and China.

Chaudhary Nawab Nazir, a local, noted that the museum provides detailed information about the India-Pakistan wars and the history of Jammu and Kashmir. The museum features an extensive collection of artefacts, documents, and interactive displays, allowing visitors to explore the region’s unique traditions, art, and historical milestones, along with the Army’s nation-building contributions.

The museum adds to the beauty of Gulmarg and offers tourists an opportunity to enrich their knowledge of Kashmir’s cultural heritage.
