Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Meets Indian Community in Moscow

On July 14, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met with the Indian Diaspora in Moscow. He emphasized that Indians living abroad are equal partners in India’s development and modernization. Birla was leading the Indian Parliamentary delegation to the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Birla praised the Indian community in Russia, noting their reputation as disciplined, hardworking, and law-abiding people. He highlighted their contributions to the development of both India and Russia and their active participation in cultural events and festivals.

He urged the Indian Diaspora to promote their motherland in Russia and strengthen the relationship between the two countries. Birla also encouraged them to spread awareness about India’s rich culture, Yoga, ancient knowledge, and diversities among Russians and to encourage them to visit India.

Birla recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Russia and his interaction with the Indian community there. He spoke about the new era of change, development, and prosperity in India under the current government, which has enhanced respect for Indians globally.

Highlighting the India-Russia relationship, Birla said it is based on mutual trust and respect. He noted that both countries have supported each other in times of challenge and have a unique relationship of friendship and family. This relationship covers various spheres, including security, defense, trade, economy, science and technology, satellite navigation, education, and culture.

Birla urged the Indian Diaspora to further cement the ties and promote shared interests between India and Russia.
