New Delhi, India – On September 5, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized the importance of regular parliamentary exchanges between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to strengthen bilateral ties. This discussion took place during a meeting with a visiting UAE Parliamentary Delegation at the Parliament House Complex, led by Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, head of the Committee on Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs.
Birla highlighted the centuries-old civilisational and cultural relationship between India and the UAE, noting the significant increase in people-to-people contact since India’s independence. He pointed out that many Indian citizens reside in the UAE, contributing to its progress and prosperity. Birla stressed the need to further enhance these contacts and partnerships.
He mentioned the strong possibilities of cooperation in technology, innovation, and investment, stating that collective efforts have made India the fifth largest economy in the world. Referring to his visit to the UAE in 2022, Birla expressed that regular discussions and dialogues between the parliaments have led to an excellent understanding between the two countries.
Birla also shared pictures on social media, emphasizing the need to strengthen cooperation in trade, technology, and people-to-people contacts. He suggested that regular discussions between the parliamentary committees of both countries should be enhanced to share achievements and best practices.
Highlighting India’s spirit of ‘Vishwa Bandhu’, Birla noted that India prioritizes mutually beneficial progress. He was pleased with the construction of the Swami Narayan Temple in the UAE, facilitated by the UAE government, as a testament to strong cultural ties.
Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi praised the spirit of fraternity between the two countries, emphasizing the centuries-old historical relations. He commended the visionary leadership of both countries for their commitment to trade, technology, and cultural contacts, which lead to development and prosperity.
