Former star midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme believes Lionel Messi will lead Argentina in the 2026 World Cup. Messi, who won his first trophy with Argentina in 2021, led the team to a World Cup victory in 2022 and defended their Copa America title in 2024.
Despite uncertainties, Riquelme is confident Messi will play in the next World Cup. He said, “Messi is reinventing himself. You never know what he can do. And I have no doubt that he will play in the next World Cup, he has to play. We will all be rooting for him to play.”
