New Delhi, September 28: Leaders from the INDIA bloc gathered on Saturday to honor CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury at a prayer meeting. Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi described Yechury as a friend and a bridge between Congress and other opposition parties. Gandhi praised Yechury’s flexibility, listening skills, and lack of common political traits like anger and arrogance.

Gandhi shared personal anecdotes, noting Yechury’s close relationship with his mother and his unwavering commitment to national interest. He emphasized that Yechury was a trustworthy person who always prioritized India’s welfare.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted Yechury’s role in forming the India Alliance. DMK MP Kanimozhi remembered Yechury as a fearless activist who stood by his principles. CPI leader D Raja called Yechury’s demise a loss for the entire country, not just CPI-M.

Congress leader Anand Sharma recalled Yechury’s efforts in uniting people and his work on international issues like apartheid and struggles in Namibia, Cuba, and Palestine. Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha spoke about the irreplaceable void left by Yechury’s passing.

NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule and Aam Aadmi Party leader Gopal Rai also paid their tributes, acknowledging Yechury’s influence on younger politicians and his role in uniting the INDIA bloc.
