Defeats Jonatan Christie to Reach Pre-Quarters

Indian badminton star Lakshya Sen triumphed over Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie with scores of 21-18, 21-12 in the men’s singles Group L match at the Paris Olympics. The match took place at the La Chapelle Arena and lasted 50 minutes.

Sen dominated the first game, leading 8-2, and continued his strong performance to win the second game and secure his place in the pre-quarters. He topped Group L and may face fellow Indian shuttler HS Prannoy in the Round of 16.

Earlier in the tournament, Sen defeated Belgium’s Julien Carraggi in straight sets, 21-19, 21-14, in a match that lasted 43 minutes. He overcame a four-point deficit in the first game and controlled the second game to win.

On Sunday, Sen’s win over Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon was nullified after Cordon withdrew from the event due to a left elbow injury. According to the rules, the result was deleted, and Sen’s ranking will be based on his remaining matches in Group L.

Sen’s match against Cordon saw him win 21-8, 22-20 in 42 minutes. Despite Cordon’s strong comeback in the second game, Sen managed to win six points in a row to clinch the match.
