In an exciting match at the Paris Olympics, Lakshya Sen defeated fellow Indian shuttler HS Prannoy in the Round of 16 in men’s singles badminton. Lakshya, ranked 22nd in the world, won in straight sets, 21-12, 21-6, against the world number 13.

The 22-year-old started strong, leading 5-1 early on. Although Prannoy, aged 32, tried to catch up, Lakshya maintained his lead and won the first set 21-12 in 21 minutes. In the second set, Lakshya dominated with a 10-3 lead before the break and finished the game 21-6.

While Lakshya kept India’s hopes for a medal alive, the men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were eliminated in the quarter-finals. Despite a strong start, they lost 21-13, 14-21, 16-21.

Next, Lakshya will face Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals on Friday.
