Kupwara Police Seize Land from Drug Peddler Manzoor Ahmad Mir in Jammu and Kashmir
In an effort to combat drug trafficking, Kupwara Police have seized 16.5 marlas of land in the Khumriyal area of Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir. The land was illegally acquired by Manzoor Ahmad Mir, who has been taken into preventive custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS).
Manzoor Ahmad Mir, son of Ab Jabbar Mir, has a history of involvement in drug peddling and was previously detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT-NDPS). The police have urged residents to assist in the fight against drug trafficking by providing any relevant information.
In a related action, Bijbehara Police Station attached a commercial complex valued at over Rs 2 crores, belonging to the late Abdul Rashid Dar of Tulkhan Bijbehara. The property, located on NHW 44 at Semthan Bijbehara, was acquired through the illicit drug trade. An investigation revealed that Dar had stored a substantial quantity of contraband substances, including poppy straw, for illegal sale.
The police recovered 126 gunny bags weighing 2600 kgs and 60 plastic barrels (1395 kgs) of contraband substances from Dar’s property. Anantnag Police have taken firm action by attaching the commercial complex constructed with illegally acquired money.
The police continue to urge local residents to cooperate in the fight against drug trafficking.
