Kumari Selja Predicts Congress Victory in Haryana Elections

In New Delhi, Congress MP and senior leader Kumari Selja expressed confidence in her party’s success in the Haryana elections. Following exit poll projections, Selja stated that Congress is expected to win more than 60 seats, emerging as a strong alternative due to anti-incumbency sentiments against the BJP, especially among weaker sections.

Selja highlighted that the BJP lacked connection with the common people and credited Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra as a turning point. She mentioned that the decision on the Chief Minister would be made by the party’s high command.

The voting for the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections concluded recently, with exit polls indicating a significant lead for Congress. The Republic TV-Matrize poll suggests Congress may secure 55-62 seats, while the BJP might win 18-24 seats. Other polls, like People Pulse and Dainik Bhaskar, also predict a Congress lead.

A total of 1,031 candidates contested across 90 constituencies, with 20,632 polling booths set up. The vote counting is scheduled for October 8. In the previous 2019 elections, BJP formed a coalition government with JJP, but JJP later exited the coalition.
