Kulgam Police Seize Drug Peddler’s Property in Jammu and Kashmir
The Kulgam Police in Jammu and Kashmir have seized a double-storied residential house belonging to drug peddler Ghulam Rasool Bhat in Nassu Badragund, Qazigund. The house measures 1145 square feet. Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, is currently in central Jail Kot Balwal, Jammu under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988 (PIT NDPS Act).
The official release stated, “Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in Kulgam attached property worth crores of a drug peddler at Nassu Badragund, Qazigund.” An FIR has been registered, and the police are investigating the matter. The property was found to be acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
Earlier, on August 1, Kupwara Police attached 16.5 marlas of illegally acquired land in the Khumriyal area of Kupwara district. The property belonged to drug peddler Manzoor Ahmad Mir, son of Ab Jabbar Mir, and was taken into preventive custody under the NDPS Act. Mir has also been taken into preventive custody under the PIT-NDPS Act.
On the same day, Bijbehara Police Station attached a commercial complex valued at over Rs 2 crores, belonging to the late Abdul Rashid Dar of Tulkhan Bijbehara. The property was identified as being acquired through the illicit drug trade.
The police have urged all residents to assist in the fight against drug peddling by providing any relevant information. Local cooperation is deemed essential to combat this menace.
