In Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, three army personnel and one police officer were injured during an encounter with terrorists. The injured are stable now, according to a senior police official.

The encounter began after security forces received information about terrorist movements in the Arigam area late Friday night. When the forces arrived, they were met with gunfire, leading to an ongoing exchange.

Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP) VK Birdi stated, “The security forces received information yesterday late at night regarding the movement of terrorists in the Arigam area. When the security forces reached, they started firing and there was an exchange of fire. After that, an encounter began and is underway right now. Three security and one police personnel have minor injuries. They are stable. The operation is going on and it will take some time to conclude. More details will come after the operation concludes.”

Meanwhile, preparations for the third phase of elections in North Kashmir are complete. The elections are being held in three phases, with the final phase scheduled for October 1 and vote counting on October 8. These are the first elections since the abrogation of Article 370.
