KT Rama Rao Encourages Support for Regional Parties in Maharashtra

As the Maharashtra assembly elections approach, KT Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has called on voters to back regional parties to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and ensure their welfare. He highlighted the success of regional parties like the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal in opposing the BJP’s influence.

Rao stated, “Today the only parties that are actually able to hold off BJP in this country are regional parties. The Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh and the TMC in West Bengal are regional parties that are stopping the BJP. So I am asking the people of Maharashtra to strengthen regional parties for their welfare.”

Political Campaigns Intensify

With the election date nearing, political campaigns are intensifying in Maharashtra. The opposition MVA coalition, which includes Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), is striving to regain power, challenging the Mahayuti alliance of Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, BJP, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP.

Key Election Battle in Baramati

One of the most anticipated contests will occur in Baramati, where Yugendra Pawar will face his uncle, Ajit Pawar, a key NCP leader. Yugendra is the son of Shrinivas Pawar, Ajit Pawar’s younger brother. Baramati gained attention in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections when Sunetra Pawar contested against Supriya Sule, who won by 1.5 lakh votes.
