KT Rama Rao Accuses Telangana CM of Corruption

KT Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has raised serious allegations against Telangana’s Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy. He claims there are irregularities in the awarding of tenders under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, a government initiative to improve infrastructure in towns with over 100,000 residents.

Allegations of Crony Capitalism

Rama Rao highlighted a specific contract worth Rs 1,137 crore awarded to Shodha Constructions, a company owned by Srujan Reddy, the brother-in-law of CM Revanth Reddy. He described this as a “classic example of crony capitalism,” suggesting that the company gained prominence only after Revanth Reddy became Chief Minister.

Details of the Allegations

According to Rama Rao, Shodha Constructions, which had a net profit of just Rs 2.2 crore in 2021-22, lacks the qualifications to handle such a large project. He pointed out that the Indian Hume Pipe Company, which partnered with Shodha Constructions, received only 20% of the work, while the majority went to Srujan Reddy’s company.

Call for Investigation

Rama Rao has called for an investigation by the Central government and has discussed the issue with Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. He vowed to continue questioning the matter in Parliament if no satisfactory response is received.
