KT Rama Rao Accuses Telangana CM Revanth Reddy of Misreporting Flood Deaths
KT Rama Rao, the working president of BRS, accused Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of providing incorrect data on the number of deaths caused by recent floods. KTR shared a post on X, stating that 31 people had died, while CM Reddy reported only 16 deaths.
KTR criticized the government for failing to properly assess the situation. He wrote, “You know that is disrespectful to a person? Ignoring his death, lying about their death, not considering their death I request the Telangana government to stop peddling lies. You had announced yesterday that only 16 people died. But please ask your team to check this list and help all the families.”
CM Reddy acknowledged the damage caused by heavy rains, including crop destruction, breached canals and ponds, disrupted road networks, and damaged electric substations and poles. He estimated property damages at 5,438 crore rupees.
CM Reddy emphasized the importance of removing encroachments around lakes to prevent future flooding. He directed officials to prepare a report on encroachments and develop an action plan for flood-prone areas. He cited the example of the Ram Nagar area in Hyderabad, which was made safe from floods by removing encroachments on the Nala.
