Kriti Somaiya Urges Action Against Abu Azmi for Alleged Provocative Speech

In New Delhi, former Bharatiya Janata Party MP Kriti Somaiya has written to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, requesting action against Samajwadi Party’s Maharashtra Chief, Abu Azmi. Somaiya accuses Azmi of delivering a provocative speech during his election campaign, allegedly urging the Muslim community to vote based on religious lines and exploiting fanaticism among Muslim voters.

Somaiya’s letter highlights Azmi’s speech, where he reportedly stated that with eight MLAs in Maharashtra, no mother would “feed her child milk” to commit atrocities against Muslims. Azmi allegedly promised to protect the community and not bow to anyone.

Somaiya has called on the Election Commission to take appropriate measures against Azmi. Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party has requested 12 seats from the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Azmi clarified that his social media post was a reminder to the parties about the urgency of the situation, not an expression of resentment.

Azmi emphasized the need for 12 seats and mentioned the good relations between Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav. The Maharashtra assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with political parties preparing for the contest over 288 seats.
