Indian para-badminton player Krishna Nagar is gearing up for the Paris Paralympics with high hopes. As the reigning gold medallist, he is excited and determined to defend his title. ‘I am very excited for the Paralympics, and my preparation is better than before,’ Nagar said. He aims to win the gold medal again and hopes the Indian team will secure 25+ medals, inspired by Devendra Jhajharia, the President of the Paralympic Committee of India.
However, the team faces a setback with the absence of Pramod Bhagat due to an anti-doping violation. Bhagat’s absence is a significant loss, but Nagar remains positive. ‘It will obviously be a huge setback for us. We can say that we lost one medal here because of his absence,’ he said.
Nagar’s coach, Yadvendra Singh, who has been with him since childhood, will be present in Paris, providing crucial support. ‘His visa issues have been resolved. He will be sitting in the audience, and that will be a huge boost for me,’ Nagar shared.
