Kolhapur Floods: Over 5,800 People Relocated as Panchaganga River Overflows
The Kolhapur District Administration in Maharashtra has relocated 5,849 people from flood-affected areas, with 5,116 from Karveer Tahsil alone, as the Panchaganga river flows above the danger mark.
In a daily report, the danger level is noted as 43 feet, but the river is flowing above 46 feet as of 11 pm on July 26. Villages like Chikhli, Ambewadi Bhamate, and Haldi in Karveer Tahsil are the most affected.
A total of 54 roads, including 10 state highways, are closed for traffic. More than 200 houses have been partially damaged, but no casualties have been reported. The district received 68 mm of rainfall on July 26.
Water releases from major dams include 1,00,68 cusecs from Radhanagari, 1,01,17 cusecs from Warna, and 1000 cusecs from Dudhganga.
District Guardian Minister Hasan Mushrif held a review meeting and assured that all necessary help is being provided. He urged people to cooperate with officials and not to panic. NDRF teams are already in action, with more support on the way.
