KL Sharma from Amethi Talks About Strong Opposition and Deputy Speaker Tradition

Congress MP KL Sharma, who took oath as Member of Parliament from Amethi after defeating BJP’s Smriti Irani, stated that the Opposition INDIA bloc is currently strong and will oppose any wrongdoing by the ruling party. He emphasized that the Deputy Speaker post has traditionally been given to an MP from the Opposition and urged the ruling party to follow this tradition.

Kishori Lal Sharma defeated Smriti Irani by a margin of 167,196 votes. Irani had previously defeated Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls by 55,120 votes. The BJP’s efforts to reach a consensus on the Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha failed when the INDIA bloc nominated K Suresh for the post, while BJP nominated Om Birla, who served as Speaker in the 17th Lok Sabha.

Rahul Gandhi mentioned that the Opposition is prepared to support NDA’s Speaker candidate if the Deputy Speaker position is given to the Opposition.
