Strict Action Promised Against NEET Paper Leak Accused
New Delhi, India
On Wednesday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju addressed a press conference about the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) paper leak issue. He assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible under the new anti-paper leak law, the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
Rijiju emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has committed to taking the strictest measures to protect students’ futures. He criticized the opposition, particularly the Congress party, for disrupting PM Modi’s speech in the Lok Sabha, stating that such behavior is against democratic traditions.
Earlier in the Rajya Sabha, PM Modi assured that the government would not spare those involved in the NEET paper leak. He expressed disappointment that the opposition politicized such a sensitive issue. The Prime Minister promised to strengthen the system to prevent future irregularities and ensure that students can confidently showcase their abilities.
The NEET UG exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency on May 5, saw 23 lakh candidates appear across 4,750 centers in India and 14 cities abroad. The results, declared on June 4, led to protests due to 67 candidates achieving a perfect score. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a criminal case and formed special teams to investigate the alleged irregularities.
