Kiren Rijiju Highlights Success of ‘Ladki Behen’ Scheme Amid Maharashtra Elections

In Pune, Maharashtra, Union Minister and BJP leader Kiren Rijiju discussed the impact of the ‘Ladki Behen’ scheme. He stated that the scheme’s success has caused concern among Congress leaders, who have made promises that people find untrustworthy. Rijiju emphasized the popularity of the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Behan Yojana’ among women in Maharashtra, attributing its success to the Central government’s efforts since 2014.

Rijiju criticized Congress for their past ‘garibi hatao’ slogan, claiming that BJP governments have taken real steps for the poor’s welfare. As Maharashtra gears up for assembly polls, political campaigns are intensifying. The opposition MVA coalition, including Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), aims to challenge the Mahayuti alliance, which consists of Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, BJP, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP.

A key contest is expected in Baramati, where NCP leader Ajit Pawar will face his nephew, Yugendra Pawar. Previously, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Supriya Sule defeated Sunetra Pawar in Baramati by a significant margin. The Maharashtra assembly elections are set for November 20, with results to be announced on November 23. In the 2019 elections, BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44, while in 2014, BJP secured 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42.
