Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Ali Amin Gandapur Demands Apology from Punjab Government

On September 23, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur responded to criticism over his strong remarks made at a PTI rally on September 8. He stated that he had ‘nothing to apologise for’ and instead demanded an apology from the Punjab government for ‘persecuting’ PTI members.

Gandapur accused the media of yielding to government pressure and called them ‘sycophants’ and ‘sellouts.’ Even PTI founder Imran Khan found Gandapur’s comments unacceptable, stating that he had ‘spoken a bit too much in his rhetoric.’

Government leaders and lawmakers urged Gandapur to apologise, but he refused, questioning, ‘What should I apologise for?’ He accused the Punjab government of imprisoning Imran Khan and attacking peaceful protesters, including Zille Shah, who was killed.

Gandapur thanked PTI supporters who attended events in Lahore and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He criticised the Punjab government’s decision to end a PTI rally at 6 pm, calling it unfair and condemning the authorities for making ‘fake statements’ about access to the rally site.
