On October 2nd, Khushi, a talented rifle shooter from India, secured a bronze medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru. This achievement brought India’s total medal count to 15, including 10 gold, one silver, and four bronze medals, keeping them at the top of the standings.

Competition Highlights

Khushi scored 447.3 in the final, finishing behind Norway’s Caroline Lund, who took silver with 458.3, and Synnoeve Berg, who won gold with 458.4. In the qualifying round, Khushi excelled in the Standing position, securing the seventh spot with a score of 585. She was among five competitors with the same score, but her 29 shots in the inner 10-ring helped her advance to the finals.

Finals Performance

In the finals, Khushi was initially in fourth place after the Kneeling and Prone positions. She moved up to third after the 40th shot, surpassing Norwegian Pernille Nor-Woll. Despite a setback on her 41st shot, Khushi’s impressive 10.7 and 10.4 shots secured her the bronze medal.

Team Competition

In the junior women’s 3P team event, Sakshi Padekar, Melvina Joel Gladson, and Prachi Gaekwad finished fifth with a score of 1757. Anoushka Thakur also performed well, scoring 585 in qualification but ended 11th due to 26 inner-10 ring hits. Sakshi, Melvina, and Prachi placed 24th, 32nd, and 41st, respectively.
