Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship Begins in Abu Dhabi

The first round of the Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship kicked off at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi. The event attracted top athletes from leading local clubs and academies, leading to intense competitions across U18, adults, and masters categories. A total of 700 male and female athletes showcased their skills.

As the competitions concluded on Friday, M.O.D UAE took the lead, followed by Al Wahda Jiu-Jitsu Club and Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club in second and third places, respectively. The championship features a ranking system to recognize athletes and clubs based on their performance throughout all five rounds.

Key figures attending the event included Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development; and Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, among others.

Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, emphasized the championship’s role in promoting jiu-jitsu locally and internationally. He praised the athletes’ passion and determination, highlighting the Federation’s commitment to excellence.

Coaches Igor Lacerda of Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club and Ariadne Oliveira of Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club noted the high competitiveness and development opportunities provided by the championship. Athletes like Omar Alfadhli of Al Wahda Club Jiu-Jitsu Academy and Dana Ali Albreiki of Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club expressed their excitement and pride in winning gold medals in their respective categories.
