Kerala MLA PV Anvar Criticizes Police Chief S Sasidharan, IPS Association Demands Apology

The Kerala Chapter of the IPS Association has strongly condemned Nilambur MLA PV Anvar for his alleged derogatory and defamatory remarks against Malappuram District Police Chief S Sasidharan. The Association has urged the MLA to retract his statements and issue a public apology.

Controversy Over Remarks

The controversy began when MLA Anvar criticized the police chief during a public meeting in Malappuram. Anvar accused the officer of delaying the arrest of culprits involved in a theft at a water theme park owned by Anvar’s family. He also accused the officer of arriving late at a function, causing him significant frustration.

IPS Association’s Response

The IPS Association stated that Anvar’s comments were baseless and highly troubling. They highlighted that Anvar labeled the District Police Chief as a fascist and made sweeping accusations against IPS officers in general. Anvar also admitted to attempting to influence the District SP in several official matters, which the Association condemned as a dangerous trend of lawlessness.

Incident Details

The incident occurred during a district conference of the police association, where both Anvar and the SP were scheduled to speak. Anvar harshly criticized the police chief for the delay in catching the culprits behind the theft of a 2,500 kg rope from his park. He also expressed frustration over the SP’s perceived lack of responsibility.

SP Sasidharan’s Response

In response, SP Sasidharan, who was scheduled to deliver the keynote address, summed up his speech in a single sentence before leaving the stage, stating, “I’m a little busy. I am not in the mood for a speech. I conclude by offering all my best wishes for this occasion.”

The IPS Association emphasized the need to maintain public trust and legal integrity and called on MLA Anvar to retract his remarks and apologize to the officer involved.
